Resumen

The appendicitis is a common cause of acute abdominal pain. It is caused by the obstruction of the cecal light and can evolve to perforation and peritonitis. In this paper we review the initial description and history of appendicitis and we also describe the signs and symptoms used for diagnosis. In today’s medicine, where technology plays a very important role, we would like to remark the value of anamnesis and physical exam as some of the most useful tools.
