Resumen

Background:. Worldwide, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia contribute to the death of a pregnant woman every 3 min.The study was designed to determine the demographic risk factors and values of blood pressure to predict preeclampsia PE.

Matherials and methods: We examined 300 normotensive (group K) and 100 preeclamptic pregnancies divided in two subgroups: mild (MP, n=67) and severe (SP, n=33) PE In research are included only single pregnancies.

Results: By design, the groups in our study did not differ by age and parity. Women with less educational attainment had higher risks of mild and severe PE. In preeclamptic groups prevail housewife’s, most of them are illiterate. (p<0.05). Main weight gain during pregnancy in control groups was 13.95±3.1 kg vs. mild preeclamptic women 19.59±3.78 kg and severe preeclamptic women 20.24±7.36 kg (p<0.01). In period 6-12 week of gestation we found that women from group MP and SP had higher average values of dBP (73,36±7,51 and 75,45±8,23 mmHg) vs values of group K (63,72±4,87mmHg). In the period of 13-17w.g. we found next average values of dBP between groups: MP= 74,85±7,17; SP=78,18±6,94; K=65,13±4,71mmHg. In the period of 17-20w.g. we found next average values of dBP between groups: MP= 77,76±5,73; SP=80,91±6,89; K=65,92±5,02mmHg (p<0,05). Same statistical significance we found and for MAP (p<0,0%). In the first half of pregnancy we not found statistical significance between groups (p>0,05).

Conclusions: The housewife’s, illiterate women and women with primary education are the most risky groups. In the first or second trimester of pregnancy, the mean arterial pressure is a better predictor for pre-eclampsia than systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
